Pietra Mello-Pittman MBE was born in Rio de Janeiro to a Brazilian mother and English father. Growing up in England, while attending St. Catherine’s School Bramley, she trained in both Ice skating and Ballet to the point at which Pietra had to chose her path.

Pietra was one of the rare few to win a place with the Royal Ballet Company after entering full time ballet training, with the Royal Ballet School, at the latest possible stage at 16 years old. She has performed all the classics, created roles in new productions and has performed all over the world with the Royal Ballet including at The Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theatres in Russia.

After winning the Ursula Morton Choreography Competition in 2001, while at the Royal Ballet School in London, Pietra started on the path to becoming a producer through her subsequent choreographies.

Passionate about cross-cultural, multi disciplinary collaborations and carrying with her, the high standards she is accustomed to from her 13 year professional life at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, as a ballerina, Pietra retired from the Royal Ballet in 2015 to focus on producing.

Sisters Grimm has built up a prestigious creative brand internationally, working with the likes of BBC, Jeremy Irons, Soweto Gospel Choir, Alfie Boe, Joely Richardson, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Soweto Gospel Choir, Channel 4, ITV, the Royal Variety Performance, Prince Harry’s Hampton Court Palace Sentebale Concert, Edinburgh International Festival, Latitude Festival, the Royal Albert Hall, UNICEF, Hi5 and the GREAT Campaign. They have entered into co productions with the Royal Opera House and the Ambassador Theatre Group, and are Export Champions for the UK Government.

Whilst promoting diversity on stage is a given, Sisters Grimm is also passionate about seeing diversity in their audiences, not only ethnic but also economic.

Pietra manages the social impact and outreach programmes Sisters Grimm run alongside their shows, offering tickets, workshops and insights into the creative process, introducing new career paths and raising aspirations, with over 7000 beneficiaries to date.

• 2019 INALA relaunches in the West End, Royal Albert Hall, Prince Harry’s Concert at Hampton Court Palace, Marina Bay Sands Singapore & China Tour.
• 2020 their 5 new music video releases, from their new Arab World Show, had over 5 million YouTube views, including over 1 million views for “Together Let Go” and over 3 million views for their UAE National Day release “UNITED” featuring Shamma Hamdan and garnering major local and international press.
• 2021 Pietra was honoured with an MBE in the 2021 New Years Honours List for services to International Trade and the Creative Industry
